For Sara the Tea Lady, tea is more than just a warm beverage (or a cold one). Instead, tea is intertwined with memories of playing cards with grandma; watching Masterpiece Theatre; and sitting in the company of a good friend, a good novel, and a very good puppy. So it comes as no surprise that Sara ventured from Seattle to sample some delicious Fair Trade tea options with us.
We started today’s flavor excursion with Rishi Tea’s Organic, Fair Trade Chai Masala. Check out this description from Rishi:
“A robust and full-flavored black tea blended with our traditional Indian Masala spices. The bold flavor of our select shade-grown black tea presents full notes of cardamom, ginger, and clove that is zesty and stimulating. Masala Chai should be brewed strong and served sweet with steamed milk and sugar.”
Drawn in by the tea’s double-lidded matte black tin, we decided to be good and follow the label’s easy instructions to a T(ea)! After boiling this ‘loose leaf’ chai in water, milk, and sugar on the stove for five minutes, Sara could no longer resist the aromas coming from the kitchen, and the first warm, spicy sip more than satisfied.
While we were thrilled to pick up on our fav spice – clove, Sara couldn’t stop tasting the sweet snap of ginger. This elixir of a tea encourages your tongue to find its favorite flavor cup after cup. We bashfully admit, we may have gluttonously indulged our way to the bottom of our ¼ lb. tin in the course of two days.
Sara the Tea Lady’s Recommendations: Having a blue day? Fighting off the chills? This chai’s the perfect warming drink, especially when you take the time to prepare it on the stove.
